KNEC has dismissed social media reports that 2024 KCSE results for Lugulu Girls’ High School have been released. The reports which started circulating on Wednesday January 15, claim the school got a mean grade of 10.23 and all students went to university.
Fake Results Online
According to the posts, Lugulu Girls got:
- 45 students with A plain
- 108 students with A-
- 270 students with B+
- 189 students with B
- 69 students with B-
- 18 students with C+
The fake results caused a stir and many thought KNEC had cleared and released the school’s results quietly.
KNEC Response
KNEC through its CEO Dr. David Njengere, clarified that the results are still under investigation and no official release has been made. Dr. Njengere warned the public against believing information circulating on social media and assured KNEC will communicate officially on any update on withheld results.
When Education CS Julius Oganga announced the KCSE results on January 9, 2025, he said over 2,829 candidates had their results withheld for further investigation due to irregularities. Among the schools affected was Lugulu Girls’ High School whose results raised concerns and KNEC started a thorough verification process.
Political Interference
After the results were withheld, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa intervened, sought clarification from the Education Ministry. Over the weekend, the MP said he had spoken to CS Oganga who told him the delay was due to verification process.
“I have spoken to the Education CS and he told me the results are withheld. The way they did the exams, the students overperformed and the examiners decided to verify. But I want to assure the parents of Lugulu and Kenyans that the results of Lugulu Girls can only be delayed for a few days,” said Barasa in a public address.
Investigations Ongoing
As we speak, KNEC is expected to complete the investigations within 30 days from the date of release of results. KNEC is working to ensure the integrity of the exam process and only verified results will be released to the public.
Stakeholders
KNEC and Education Ministry advise parents, students and the public to wait as they complete the process. Any update on Lugulu Girls’ KCSE results will be communicated officially.
