As several schools continue to receive their 2024 KCSE results, there’s joy and celebrations for top performers as others try to figure out what exactly went wrong. There were Joy and celebrations which filled the air along Thika-Magumu road in Thika town, Kiambu County, as Mary Hill Girls High School posted an impressive mean score of 10.0511 in the 2024 KCSE results, which was a significant improvement from the previous year’s mean score of 9.4423.
Breakdown of Performance
Over 90 percent of students secured a direct entry to university. For the 587 candidates who sat for the exam, 580 students scored C+ and above, qualifying for admission to universities and other higher learning institutions. The detailed performance is as follows:
- Grade A: 80 candidates
- Grade A-: 181 candidates
- Grade B+: 139 candidates
- Grade B: 111 candidates
- Grade B-: 37 candidates
- Grade C+: 32 candidates
- Grade C: 5 candidates
- Grade C-: 2 candidates
Achievement of this caliber is a result of the school’s high academic standing and strong support system.
A Star Performer: Natalie Gichuki
Among them was 17-year-old Natalie Gichuki, who was also a star performer with an A of 83 points. Gichuki attributes her success to hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support of her teachers and parents.
“I was anxious during and after the examinations, especially because the release of the results was delayed. I thank God, my teachers, and my parents for their support and guidance,” she said.
Principal’s Remarks
The successful outcome of the students is a source of pride to the school’s principal, Grace Macharia, who identifies the role of collaborative effort of teachers, parents and other stakeholders.
“We are delighted by the stellar performance of our students, and we have high hopes that the 2025 class will even post better results. We’ve achieved this through strong collaborations by all stakeholders,” she said.
