The Matuu Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Campus located in Yatta Sub-county, Machakos Countywill admit its first batch of students in March 2025.
Speaking during a site visit on Monday, February 24, KMTC Academic Registrar Ronald Wasike accompanied by Yatta MP Robert Basil confirmed that the campus will soon be operational.
Student Admission and KUCCPS Placement
Wasike said student placement will be done through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) but efforts will be made to ensure a significant number of students from Yatta, Machakos and neighboring areas get admitted.
“Students will apply through KUCCPS but we shall also mobilize local students to take advantage of the facility,” he said. “However as a national institution KMTC upholds national cohesion and integration so we will also admit students from other counties.”
Revival of the Institution
The Matuu KMTC Campus which was established in 2019 had stalled until MP Robert Basil revieved its operations. The MP oversaw:
✅ Clearing of overgrown bushes
✅ Restoration of power supply
✅ Renovation of washrooms and infrastructure
Basil asked the Machakos County Government to support the institution by providing medical equipment, beds and faculty staff.
“The county should provide at least 200 beds, doctors, teachers and X-ray machines,” he said. “I have done my part as the area MP and I will soon purchase seats and computers for the campus.”
Boost for Medical Training in Machakos
The opening of Matuu KMTC Campus is a big milestone in medical education in Machakos County and beyond. The institution will play a key role in training healthcare professionals to address the region’s growing demand for medical services.
