KESSSA Releases Term One County Sports Championship Calendar for Nyanza Region

KESSSA has released the Term One County Sports Championship schedule for Nyanza Region. The 5 day event will take place at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School and starts on Tuesday with various activities.

Event Schedule

According to County Sports Secretary Geoffrey Nyandika, the championship will start with clinics for referees in basketball, rugby, handball and hockey. These clinics are to ensure smooth officiation throughout the tournament.

Day Two will have opening ceremony, athletics clinic and preliminary matches. The first day will mostly be athletics and quarter finals.

The event will end on March 7th with athletics play offs leading to finals at 11 a.m. The closing ceremony will be presided over by Nyanza Regional Director of Education.

Discipline and Sportsmanship

Nyandika urged the teams to be disciplined to make the tournament a success.

“We hope to see disciplined and focused teams whose aim is to promote friendship and teamwork for our sports,” Nyandika said.

Handball: Kereri Girls vs Ndonyo Girls

The most awaited match in handball will be between Kereri Girls High School, the newbies and Ndonyo Girls from Etago Subcounty, the defending champions.

Kereri’s coach Erick Nyakundi is confident in his team’s preparation and ambition.

“We are prepared and want competition and to complete our journey of success,” he said.
