KNEC has issued a circular (Ref: KNEC/GEN/TD/CIR/CBA/2025/001) on the administration of School-Based Assessment (SBA) projects, practicals and performance tasks for Grade 4, Grade 5 and Special Needs Education (SNE) learners in 2025.
The circular dated 21st January 2025 has been sent to:
- Sub-County Directors of Education
- Heads of Primary Schools
- Heads of Special Primary Schools
Key Highlights from the Circular
1. Accessing the Assessment Tools
KNEC will upload all assessment tools on the CBA Portal (https://cba.knec.ac.ke) where headteachers will log in to access the materials.
For password issues, contact your Sub-County Director of Education for password reset.
2. Administration and Scoring of Assessments
- Projects, practicals and performance tasks must be administered within the timelines.
- Teachers will assess learners as they do the tasks and score using KNEC guidelines.
- All scores must be uploaded on the CBA Portal by the deadline.
3. Record Keeping and Improvisation of Materials
- Keep proper records and evidence.
- Materials for practical tasks should be from the school environment or improvised as much as possible.
