P1 teachers will have a big opportunity in invigilating the 2025 KCSE exams after KNEC made changes. For the first time, P1 teachers will be the only ones to invigilate the exams and will get up to Sh 8,800.
Why P1 Teachers Are Being Chosen for KCSE Invigilation
KNEC has decided to bar secondary school teachers from invigilating the KCSE exams to minimize conflict of interest. Secondary school teachers will still serve in supervisory roles. KNEC’s move is to streamline the exam administration process and ensure a fair examination environment.
Only P1 teachers who are registered and employed by TSC will be eligible to serve as invigilators. Although there is no direct payment for invigilation, KNEC will reimburse the teachers for their transport and will pay Sh 550 per day for each invigilator.
Invigilator Pay for KCSE 2025
KCSE exams will run for 16 days in 2025, so each invigilator will get Sh 8,800 for the whole exam period. Below is the daily transport allowance for various roles:
- Invigilators: Sh 550 per day
- Supervisors: Sh 680 per day
- Centre Managers: Sh 550 per day
Payment for Other Exam Roles
KNEC also pays transport reimbursement for teachers involved in other exams like KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment) and KJSEA (Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment). The payment varies depending on the role and the duration of each exam:
- KPSEA Supervisors: Sh 680 per day for 3 days, total Sh 2,040
- KPSEA Invigilators: Sh 550 per day for 3 days, total Sh 1,680
- KJSEA Supervisors: Sh 680 per day for 3 days, total Sh 2,040
- KJSEA Invigilators: Sh 550 per day for 3 days, total Sh 1,680* KCSE Supervisors: Sh 680 per day for 16 days, total Sh 10,880
How to Get Paid
KNEC has outlined 5 reasons why contracted professionals—teachers, drivers, security personnel—might not get paid and the solutions:
- Name Mismatch: The name on CP2 form does not match the M-Pesa number.
Solution: Make sure your Safaricom (M-Pesa) number matches your ID details. - Missing ID or TSC/PF Number: This information is missing from your CP2 portal.
Solution: Log into CP2 portal and update your details with the correct information. - Missing Documentation: Attendance registers were not submitted or lacked official stamps and signatures.
Solution: Centre managers must verify, sign, stamp and submit the registers to SCDE for forwarding to KNEC. - Unregistered Professionals: Those who worked but were not deployed in CP2 portal.
Solution: Contact SCDE for assistance with proper registration in the portal. - Slow Data Processing: Incomplete or inaccurate data submitted to KNEC may delay payments.
Solution: Make sure all data is clean and complete before resubmitting it through SCDE.
