TSC Begins Verification Process for Teacher Replacement Recruitment

The TSC has started calling teachers who applied for replacement positions for a document verification exercise. The process which was delayed due to promotion interviews for primary and post-primary school teachers has started.

TSC has sent SMS to successful applicants with details of the verification venues, dates and required documents. One of the messages sent to an applicant in Ganze Sub County reads:

“Congratulations! Kindly come to Ganze Primary School on Monday, 17/2/2025, at 8:30 AM with the original and copies of the following documents: ID card, TSC Registration certificate, KCPE, KCSE, Diploma/Degree certificates, all levels leaving certificates, official transcripts, and graduation page where your name appears. Please notify if you received this SMS. Add an affidavit if names vary.”

TSC Replacement Recruitment Overview

TSC advertised 8,707 vacancies to replace teachers who left the service through natural attrition. The breakdown of these slots is as follows:

  • 5,862 positions for primary school teachers
  • 21 positions for junior secondary school (JSS) teachers
  • 2,824 positions for secondary school teachers

Teachers appointed under this program will be on permanent and pensionable terms. The posting of successful candidates will start at the end of February 2025 and will be completed by May 2025.

Required Documents for Verification

Applicants should present original and photocopies of the following documents during the verification process.

For Primary School Teachers:

  1. National Identification Card
  2. TSC Registration Certificate
  3. Evidence of completion of Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) where applicable
  4. PTE Certificate (Primary Teacher Education)
  5. KCSE Certificate or its equivalent (including certificates for attempts if the exam was retaken)
  6. KCPE Certificate or its equivalent (including certificates for attempts if the exam was retaken)
  7. Letter of Certification of Results by KNEC, if applicable
  8. Primary and Secondary School leaving certificates and other relevant testimonials
  9. NCPWD Card (for persons with disabilities)
  10. Affidavit sworn under the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act if there are discrepancies in names#### For Post-Primary School Teachers (JSS & Secondary):

a) National Identification Card

Verification Process for Intern Teachers

Teachers currently serving as interns only need to present their National ID cards for verification.

Considerations for Persons with Disabilities

Applicants with disabilities should declare their disability status and indicate the nature of their disability to assist in placement considerations.

Merit List and Recruitment Process

Once the verification is complete, the TSC Sub-County Director will compile a Merit List of all verified applicants. These lists will be available upon request, but in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019, to protect applicants’ personal information.

Scoring Criteria and Extra Marks

TSC has introduced a scoring system to determine priority in hiring:

  • Intern teachers employed by TSC are awarded 30 extra marks
  • Teachers with PTE Certificates who upgraded to UDPTE receive 5 extra marks
