The Teachers Service Commission has revealed new salary and benefit packages for teachers in the following job grades: C2, C3, C4, and C5. This means that tutors of similar cadres will be remunerated with a proper salary for their dedications and effort in classrooms.
Monthly Basic Salary by Job Grade
- C2, Job Group 7: Ksh 34,955 – Ksh 43,694
- C3, Job Group 8: Ksh 43,154 – Ksh 53,943
- C4 (Job Group 9): Ksh 52,308 – Ksh 65,385
- C5 (Job Group 10): Ksh 62,272 – Ksh 77,840
Monthly Benefits
Commuter Allowance:
- C2: Ksh 5,000
- C3: Ksh 6,000
- C4: Ksh 8,000
- C5: Ksh 8,000
Disability Guide Allowance:
- Ksh 20,000 for teachers in special schools C2 to C5
Leave Allowance:
- Ksh 6,000
Monthly House Allowance
C2 (Job Group 7):
- Nairobi: Ksh 16,500
- Major Municipalities: Ksh 12,800
- Other Minor Municipalities: Ksh 9,600
- All other areas: Ksh 7,500
C3 (Job Group 8) & C4 (Job Group 9):
- Nairobi: Ksh 28,000
- Major Municipalities: Ksh 22,000
- Other Minor Municipalities: Ksh 16,500
- All other: Ksh 13,000
C5 (Job Group 10):
- Nairobi: Ksh 35,000
- Major Municipalities: Ksh 25,500
- Other Minor Municipalities: Ksh 18,000

Monthly Hardship Allowance
For teachers serving in hardship areas:
- C2: Ksh 10,900
