TSC to Conduct Document Verification for 8,707 Teacher Replacements Starting February 17, 2025

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will start the document verification exercise on 17th February 2025 to fill 8,707 teacher vacancies left by those who exited service due to natural attrition.

Applicants are already receiving SMS notifications from TSC Sub-County Directors to come for verification at designated venues. This comes hot on the heels of the promotion interviews for primary and post-primary school teachers.

One of the SMS reads:

”Congratulations! Come to ***** on Monday 17/2/2025. 8:30 am with original and copies of the following documents: ID card, TSC Registration certificate, KCPE, KCSE, Dip/Degree certificates, all levels leaving certificates, official transcripts and graduation page where your name appears. Notify if you received this SMS. Add affidavit if names vary. For SCD – Ganze.”

Teacher Recruitment Breakdown

TSC has advertised the posts on permanent and pensionable terms as follows:

  • Primary Schools: 5,862 posts
  • Junior Secondary Schools (JSS): 21 posts
  • Secondary Schools: 2,824 posts

Posting will start for successful applicants by the end of February 2025 and will run until May 2025.

Documents required for Verification

candidates will present original and photocopies of the following documents:

Primary School Teachers

  • National ID card
  • TSC Registration Certificate
  • UDPTE Certificate or Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (if applicable)
  • PTE Certificate
  • KCSE Certificate (include all certificates for attempts if exams were re-sat)
  • KCPE Certificate (include all certificates for attempts if exams were re-sat)
  • Letter of Certification of Results by KNEC (if applicable)
  • Primary and Secondary School Leaving Certificates
  • National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if applicable)
  • Affidavit (if there is a variation in names)

Junior Secondary and Secondary School Teachers

a) National ID card
b) Certificate of Registration as a teacher
c) Diploma/Degree certificate & official transcripts
d) KCSE Certificate (include all certificates for attempts if exams were re-sat)
e) KCPE Certificate (include all certificates for attempts if exams were re-sat)
f) Primary and Secondary School Leaving Certificates
g) National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) Card (if applicable)
h) Affidavit (if there is a variation in names)
i) Letter of Certification of Results by KNEC (if applicable)

Intern Teachers

Only required to present their National ID card for verification.

Persons with disabilities must indicate their disability status to assist in placement.

Merit List Compilation & Recruitment Transparency

After verification, the TSC Sub-County Director will compile a Merit List of all successfully verified applicants.

The Merit Lists will be publicly available upon request while adhering to the Data Protection Act, 2019 to protect applicants’ personal information.

TSC Scoring System for Recruitment

TSC has introduced extra marks for specific categories of applicants:

  • Intern Teachers receive 30 extra marks for having served under the internship program.
  • PTE Certificate Holders who upgraded to UDPTE receive 5 additional marks.

These extra marks are to reward teachers with relevant experience and upgraded qualifications.

  • Check your phone for an SMS from TSC.
  • Gather all required documents and prepare both originals and photocopies.
  • Attend the verification exercise on 17th February 2025 at your designated venue.
