Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has some great job opportunities for people with enthusiasm for education and willingness to make a difference. Good news. There are job openings for Principal Teacher Management Officers (PTMO) and Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) that offer a variety of entry requirements and responsibilities.
Let us kick off with the PTMO position. TSC is offering a total of 92 slots for the position. Interested applicants will need to have served as a Curriculum Support Officer in a regular capacity for a minimum of three years. Besides this, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized institution. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education qualifications may apply. Noticeably, success applicants should have credentials in computer Web applications and information systems as an essential part of technological updates.
On the interview date, candidates must carry their original national identity card, academic and professional certificates, and the appointment and designation letter to the grade from which presently employed. Candidates shortlisted shall, in addition, be required to have clearance certificates from Chapter 6 of the Constitution. Moving on to the Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), there are several categories available:
- Curriculum Support Officer I (CSO 1):
- Grade D1 position with 84 posts.
- Applicants must have served as a Curriculum Support Officer on TSC Scale 10 for a minimum of three years.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education is required, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education is preferred.
- A Master’s degree in Education or special education from a recognized institution would be advantageous.
- Candidates must possess computer application skills certification and have completed a management course lasting at least two weeks.
- Curriculum Support Officer II (CSO II):
- Grade C5 position with 286 posts.
- Eligible candidates should have served as a teacher on TSC Scale 9 (and above) for at least six years.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education is required, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education is preferred.
- Computer application skills certification is also required.
- Curriculum Support Officer II (SNE):
- SNE stands for Special Needs Education.
- There are 295 posts available.
- Applicants must have served as a teacher on TSC Scale 9 (and above) for a minimum of six years.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education is mandatory, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education is preferred.
- Candidates must also possess a diploma in Special Needs Education and computer application skills certification.
Like PTMO, applicants to the CSO positions are also required to present their original national identity card, academic/professional certificates, appointment, and designation letter to the current grade when reporting for the interview, as well as a valid documents of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.
