HELB Disburses KSh 1.56 Billion to Support University and TVET Students

HELB has released KSh 1.56 billion for tuition and upkeep for university students and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba says the funds were released on Friday, March 14, 2025 and benefited 65,126 students31,263 TVET trainees and 33,863 university students.

“Friday, March 14, 2025, HELB released KSh 1.56 billion to students and trainees for tuition and upkeep,” he said.

Government’s Support for Higher Education

This is the third disbursement for the 2024–2025 Financial Year and brings HELB’s total allocation to KSh 32.7 billion for 390,612 university students and 195,522 TVET trainees.

CS Ogamba reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure students get the financial aid to continue their academic and training programs without hitches.

“The continued disbursement of these funds means students and trainees can focus on their academic, training and research without interruptions,” he said.

Students have been issued through HELB’s official channels and are advised to check their HELB portals for more information on the disbursements.
