Bungoma County – Kenya Power has reaffirmed its commitment to education by dedicating a new classroom at Namakhele ACK Comprehensive School in Bungoma County.
The KSh 1.29 million project, under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, will accommodate Grade 9 Junior Secondary School (JSS) students, much needed space in the growing institution.
Kenya Power’s Education Focus
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Bungoma County Business Manager (CBM) Dan Okumu said Kenya Power’s focus on education is to improve infrastructure in underserved areas.
“Education is the foundation of transforming children into useful citizens and the nation. To build a better future we must invest in and empower young learners,” Okumu said.
The new classroom will relieve congestion and enhance the school’s ability to deliver quality education, create a good learning environment for students.
Overcrowding in Schools
With growing number of students, Namakhele ACK Comprehensive School has been facing increasing pressure on its facilities. The extra classroom comes in good time to absorb the growing enrollment.
School administrators, teachers and local leaders welcomed the development, thanking Kenya Power for going beyond electricity distribution to invest in community development projects.
