Over 1,000 youths from Machakos County graduated today from the Machakos Youth Service (MYS) program marking a big achievement in their journey to skills development and economic empowerment.
At the passing-out ceremony, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti said the graduates will now proceed to Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) to pursue skill-based courses for free courtesy of the county government.
“For the last three weeks, these young men and women have been trained to equip them with life-saving techniques, including emergency response skills,” Governor Ndeti said.
Equipping Youths with Practical Skills
The MYS program has taught participants key skills particularly in fire emergency response which is a common challenge in homes and workplaces.
“Fire accidents happen frequently and now you are trained to respond fast and efficiently. The values you have learned here should guide you as you take the next step in your journey,” the governor said.
The graduates will now join various Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) across the county including:
✅ Kituluni VTC
✅ Kyemutheke VTC
✅ Matuu VTC
✅ Mitaboni VTC
✅ Masii VTC
At these institutions they will receive training in technical fields to increase their employability and self-reliance.
Partnership with National Government
