KSSSA Unveils 28 Teams to Represent Kenya at 2025 FEASSSA Games

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) has released the first set of school teams that will represent Kenya at the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games. The announcement comes after the conclusion of the KSSSA National Term One Games held in Mombasa.

A total of 28 teams across seven disciplines have qualified for the regional competition to be held on Kenyan soil this August. More teams will be named after the Term Two national games.

Rugby 15s: Vihiga Boys Lead the Pack

In rugby 15s, Vihiga Boys (Western region) top a strong lineup that includes Kisii School (Nyanza), All Saints Embu (Eastern), and Upper Hill School (Nairobi). The four schools were too good, too strong and too composed for their opponents.

Basketball: Heavyweights Back in the Mix

In girls’ basketball, Butere Girls (Western), Kaya Tiwi (Coast), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), and Olympic Secondary (Nairobi) made the cut after impressive performances.

On the boys’ side, Laiser Hill Academy (Rift Valley), Dr Aggrey School (Coast), Dagoretti High (Nairobi), and Lukenya School (Eastern) were too good on the court.

Handball: Kamusinga and Kimilili Qualify for FEASSSA

Handball saw Kimilili Boys (Western), Kamito Boys (Rift Valley), Highway Secondary (Nairobi), and Manyatta Boys (Nyanza) qualify for the boys’ category.

For the girls, Moi Girls Kamusinga (Western), St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), Dagoretti Mixed (Nairobi), and Kadika Girls (Nyanza) made the grade.

Hockey: St. Anthony’s and Tigoi Through

In hockey, the boys’ qualifiers are Musingu Boys (Western), St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale (Rift Valley), St. Charles Lwanga (Coast), and Mpesa Foundation Academy (Central).

The girls’ hockey teams are Tigoi Girls (Western), Ng’iya Girls (Nyanza), Mwiki Secondary (Nairobi), and St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale who qualified in three different sports—a testament to their athletic ability and institutional strength.

St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale: A Force to Be Reckoned With

One of the biggest stories of the Term One Games is the outstanding performance by St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale who qualified in basketball, handball and hockey. Their triple qualification shows the school’s investment in sports excellence and multi-discipline competitiveness.

KSSSA Praises Teams’ Performance and Sportsmanship

In a statement, KSSSA commended the athletes and coaches for showing resilience, sportsmanship and tactical discipline during the week-long competition in Mombasa. The association said the qualified teams are the best of Kenya’s youth and are ready to dominate the FEASSSA Games on home soil.

What’s Next?

More teams will qualify for FEASSSA after the Term Two Games in disciplines like football, volleyball, netball and athletics. The final delegation will aim to uphold Kenya’s reputation as a regional power in secondary school sports.
