Nyeri County Grants Sh40 Million in Bursaries to Support Needy Students’ Education

It’s raining bursaries in Nyeri County! The county government’s Elimu Fund has awarded education bursaries to a whopping 11,840 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. And guess what? This time, special school students have also made it to the list of beneficiaries. It’s all about inclusivity!

The bursary amounts vary depending on the level of education. Students in boarding secondary schools have received a cool Sh6,000, while their college counterparts will be smiling all the way to the bank with Sh4,000. Special school students, on the other hand, will be celebrating with Sh5,000 in their pockets. Polytechnic students are not left behind, bagging Sh6,000, and university students have hit the jackpot with a generous Sh7,000.

During the cheques issuance ceremony at the Asian Quarters Bus terminus, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting the education sector. He believes that every child in the county deserves an equal opportunity to learn and thrive.

“These bursaries are a game-changer for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and we must continue to prioritize them along with other outreach programs,” said Governor Kahiga.

He also revealed that a whopping Sh100 million has been allocated to the county’s Elimu Fund bursary in the 2023-2024 financial year. That’s a significant investment in the future of Nyeri’s young minds. Keep up the good work, Nyeri County!
