Teachers Elect Officials at Mwalimu National Sacco Kisii Branch

In a democratic display of leadership transition, Mwalimu National Sacco Kisii branch has witnessed the election of new zone leaders during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Tendere Secondary School. Teachers participated in the exercise, which aimed to elect delegates for Bobasi, Bomachoge, and South Mugirango zones.

Election Results

Bobasi Zone

  1. George Bosire: emerged as the winner with 159 votes.
  2. Boniface Manoti: the incumbent, secured 156 votes.
  3. John Nyadondi: obtained the third position with 101 votes.

Bomachoge Zone

  1. Rose Maroko: defended her seat with 180 votes.
  2. Jasper Makambi: secured 143 votes.
  3. Makachi Manoti: received 125 votes.
  4. Benard: garnered 120 votes.

South Mugirango Zone

  1. Isaac Nagara: elected unopposed in the polls.

Commendations and Encouragement

The newly elected officials received commendations from the Sacco CEO, Isaiah Onyambu, who urged young teachers to save and invest with the Sacco, emphasizing the economic security it provides in old age. He encouraged teachers to make informed financial decisions and avoid high-interest rates charged by banks.

Isaiah Onyambu shared positive financial news, revealing that the Sacco increased its dividends from Ksh7.73 billion in 2022 to Ksh8.37 billion in 2023.

Kisii County Cooperatives Officer, Jeniffer Nyamwata, who oversaw the elections, commended the members for maintaining peace during the process, emphasizing its fairness and freedom. County KUPPET Executive Secretary, Joseph Abincha, supported these sentiments and wished the newly elected officials success in their roles.

Joseph Abincha, reflecting on his own journey from a delegate to the position of Secretary, encouraged fellow teachers to progress in their careers. He highlighted the noble calling of the teaching profession and urged teachers to continue their impactful work in molding the future generation.
