In the latest transfer exercise, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has implemented changes affecting three Principals in Kisii County. The moves are described as routine measures aimed at regulating teachers’ performance and ensuring the effective delivery of services. The County Director of Education, Philip Chirchir, emphasized that teachers are expected to work wherever their services are needed, as directed by their employer.
The principal transfers are as follows:
- Outgoing Principal – Tendere Secondary School: Onchoke Ombui
- Transferred to Kanyimbo Secondary School.
- Incoming Principal – Tendere Secondary School: Elijah Onsabwa
- Previously served at St. Alexander Nyamecheo Secondary School in Nyamira County.
- David Paradise of Nyatwoni SDA Church
- Transferred to St. Alexander Nyamecheo Secondary School.
The newly appointed Principal of Tendere Secondary School, Elijah Onsabwa, expressed his mission to increase the student population from 250 to 1,000 within one year. He outlined his approach, which involves fostering teamwork among students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Onsabwa shared plans to revert the school to its initial status as a mixed school, stating that the school’s performance had declined when it became a boys’ school. The school management committee, led by Chairperson Samuel Orenge, is supportive of this transformation.
Onsabwa also provided information on the school’s performance, noting an improvement in the mean score from 5.4 in 2022 to 5.7 in the 2023 KCSE examinations. The changes aim to bring positive developments to the educational landscape in Kisii County and align with the TSC’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education through strategic personnel management.
