Schools in Kenya have reopened for Term Two of the 2025 academic calendar after the April holiday which started on April 4, 2025. The Ministry of Education has released a detailed school calendar for term dates, mid-term breaks and national exams for the rest of the year.
Term Two 2025: Dates and Mid-Term Break
- Opening Date: Monday, April 28, 2025
- Closing Date: Friday, August 1, 2025
- Duration: 14 weeks
Mid-Term Break (Term Two)
- Break Starts: Wednesday, June 25, 2025
- School Resumes: Monday, June 29, 2025
- Duration: 5 days
After Term Two, learners will go on August holiday.
August Holiday 2025
- Starts: Monday, August 4, 2025
- Ends: Friday, August 22, 2025
- Duration: 3 weeks
Term Three 2025: Shortest but Most Critical Term
- Opening Date: Monday, August 25, 2025
- Closing Date: Friday, October 24, 2025
- Duration: 9 weeks
Term Three will be followed by the longest school break of the year which coincides with national exams and December holiday.
December Holiday 2025
- Begins: Monday, October 27, 2025
- Ends: Friday, January 2, 2026

National Exams Calendar 2025
The Ministry has released the following national exams schedule:
1. KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment)
- Dates: October 27 – October 30, 2025
- Duration: 4 days
2. KILEA (Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment)
- Dates: October 27 – October 31, 2025
- Duration: 5 days
3. KJSEA & KPLEA (Junior School & Pre-Vocational Education Assessments)
Dates: October 27 – November 6, 2025
- Duration: 9 days
4. KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education)
- Dates: November 3 – November 21, 2025
