KUCCPS warns applicants of placement agents fraud Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has cautioned applicants against fraudsters posing as placement agents. Reports are emerging of scammers deceiving unsuspecting applicants by claiming to process applications for Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) for a fee.
KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Wahome in a statement released on Friday, March 7, said applications should only be submitted through the KUCCPS student portal.
“Applications are to be submitted online on the KUCCPS student’s portal; applicants should be vigilant to avoid being victims of online fraudsters,” Wahome warned.
For those having challenges applying for teaching courses at TTCs, Wahome advised to visit KUCCPS offices at ACK Garden House on 1st Ngong Avenue, Community Area, Nairobi. Applicants can also seek assistance at any of the 58 Huduma Centres across the country or their nearest TTC.
Minimum Entry Requirements for TTCs
KUCCPS listed the minimum qualifications for applicants joining TTCs:
- Diploma in Primary Teacher Education: C (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
- Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education: C+ in KCSE or equivalent.
Currently only three colleges in Kenya offer Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education with a combined capacity of 2,735 students. The remaining 33 TTCs offer Diploma in Primary Teacher Education.
Guidance for Applicants With Other Qualifications
Applicants with qualifications other than KCSE should seek an equivalence assessment from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to check their eligibility for TTC courses.
Application Deadline and Eligibility
Application is ongoing and will close on March 20, 2025. KUCCPS announced both Kenyan and non-Kenyan applicants can apply including 2024 KCSE candidates and those from previous years who meet the required qualifications.
