Matiliku Boys Dominate Makueni County KSSSA Term One Games

Matiliku Boys from Nzaui Sub-County impressed to top the pile in Makueni County, winning the most trophies at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games held at the county level.

Handball

Handball was a closely contested category. Nduluni Girls from Mukaa won the championship, second was Professor Kaloki Secondary and third was Nguu for the girls.

For the boys, Matiliku Boys won the trophy, Mbooni Boys came second and Nduluni Boys third.

Hockey

In the girls’ hockey, St Joseph’s Girls from Kibwezi won, Ukia Girls came second and AIC Nunguni from Kilungu third.

Matiliku Boys also dominated in boys’ hockey, winning the trophy. Makueni Boys and Kitondo Boys came second and third respectively.

Basketball

Makueni Girls won basketball, Clay International and Kavuthu Secondary came second and third respectively.

Kasikeu won for the boys, Matiliku and Mbooni came second and third.

Rugby

Misuuni-Kambu won rugby, Nduluku Boys came second and Makueni Boys third.

Event Closure and Remarks

The games were closed by Mercy Gitari, Nzaui Sub-County Quality Assurance Director who praised the discipline exhibited by the students.

“We have nurtured these talents and we expect them to shine globally,” Gitari said. “Let’s grow these youngsters into something bigger.”

The host principal Johnstone Ndivo, also the KESSHA Chairman for Makueni County commended the teams for their hardwork and resilience. He thanked them for the support despite the challenges and emphasized the importance of perseverance.

“We will continue supporting these activities. As our students graduate we will guide them in talent development. Students in Morocco, Spain and other countries have made it because of sports,” Ndivo said.

As the teams move to the next round, Makueni County will be looking to make a big impression and showcase its sporting prowess.
