Ministry of Education’s Guidelines on Placement of 2023 KCPE Candidates Who Missed the Exam in Secondary Schools

The Ministry of Education is dedicated to implementing the 100 percent Transition policy for all learners in Basic Education, ensuring fairness and equity. To address the situation of candidates who registered for the 2023 KCPE examination but did not sit for various reasons, the Ministry has issued guidelines for their placement in secondary schools.

Guidelines

  1. Placement of Candidates:
    • All 2,564 candidates who registered for the 2023 KCPE examination but did not sit for various reasons have been placed in secondary schools to join Form One.
    • The placement is based on confirmation by their respective Head-teachers that they are available to sit for a supplementary examination.
  2. Form One Admission:
    • Principals of the selected schools are instructed to allow the candidates to join Form One.
    • Schools should ensure that these candidates are presented for the KCSE examination Qualifying Test before completing their Form Three academic year.

  4. Issuance of Candidate Lists:
    • The Ministry will issue a list of the candidates for each sub-county for reference.
  5. Reporting Requirements:
    • Sub-County Directors are required to prepare a report to the Ministry at the end of Term I. The report should detail the candidates in their respective sub-counties, indicating the secondary school each candidate was admitted to.
  6. Implementation Directive:
    • Stakeholders, including school principals and Sub-County Directors, are urged to ensure the effective implementation of these guidelines.
