Mombasa Governor Distributes Sh64 Million in Bursary Cheques to Students

Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Nassir has made some big moves in the education sector! In the first phase of the Elimu Fund, he has proudly distributed a whopping Sh64 million in consolidated bursary cheques to 9,436 lucky beneficiaries. That’s no small feat!

To ensure fairness and accessibility, the county Department of Education and Digital Transformation had devolved the application process for bursaries to the ward level. This way, they aimed to reach as many deserving students as possible. Kudos to them for making education a top priority!

During an event held at the Ronald Ngala Memorial School in Mvita, Governor Nassir expressed his deep appreciation for the transformative power of education. He said, “Education has always been close to my heart because I understand the power that it has to change an individual’s life. Education is a gift that keeps on giving, and nobody can ever take it away.” Well said, Governor! It’s refreshing to see a leader who truly values the importance of education.

The event was graced by the presence of various esteemed individuals, including MP Mohamed Machele, Woman Representative Zamzam Mohamed, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, Speaker Aharub Khatri, and the MCAs. It was a gathering of passionate individuals who share a common goal of empowering the youth through education.

Governor Nassir emphasized that the education sector has been given significant attention in this financial year. Among the various initiatives, the Skills Mtaani program stands out, providing partial scholarships for vocational training with a budget of Sh130 million. There’s also the School Holiday Program, aimed at keeping children engaged and away from negative influences during breaks, with a budget of Sh145 million. The Free School Feeding Program, ensuring children have access to nutritious meals, has been allocated Sh84 million. Last but not least, the Elimu Fund, dedicated to bursaries, has received a substantial budget of Sh205 million. These investments reflect the governor’s commitment to improving the lives of Mombasa residents through education.

With such determined leadership and a strong focus on education, the future looks promising for the people of Mombasa. Governor Nassir’s dedication to making a positive impact is truly admirable. Let’s cheer on the beneficiaries of the bursaries as they embrace this opportunity for personal growth and a brighter future. Education is indeed a game-changer, and it’s heartening to see it being prioritized in Mombasa.
