TSC Transfers Shake Up Leadership in Kisumu and Kisii Schools

The Teachers Service Commission has transferred several principals of secondary schools in Kisumu, Homa Bay, and Kisii counties in a number of high-profile changes in a transfer meant to ensure that the schools get a revamped leadership for better performance in the regions.

Eve Odhiambo, the Chief Principal of Kisumu Girls High School in Kisumu County, has been moved to Dudi Girls High School in Homa Bay County. Odhiambo had barely completed a year at Kisumu Girls and was swapped with the former head of Dudi Girls, Doreen Buop.

The Principal of Ahero Girls High School in Nyando, Joyce Omondi, has also been transferred and moved to Bishop Okoth Mbaga Girls in Siaya County. Further, Benter Ayacko, who had been heading St Barnabas Girls in Seme, Kisumu County, has been moved in a transfer exercise currently going on in the Ministry.

The changes in the leadership are not affecting Kisumu County alone. In Kisii South, Etago, Sameta, and Nyamache sub-counties, several schools are being given a new administrative look. Among the affected schools are Ekeonga, Nyabite, Ebiosi, and Usena Mission secondary schools.

Nyisia and Ibeno Secondary Schools in Kisii Central Sub-county will also get new principals in the region-wide shake-up by TSC.
Impact of the Transfers

TSC’s transfer policy aims to ensure good leadership and evenly distributes the experienced teachers in the country. The changes also create a lot of debate among the school communities since new leaders introduce their strategies in attempts to change academic performance.
