Pools Announced for Secondary School Term One Games

The Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) has unveiled the pools for the eagerly anticipated secondary school term one games, scheduled to commence on April 6, 2024, and culminate on April 14, 2024. The championship, set to take place at Machakos Boys and Girls High schools, will feature a wide array of sporting disciplines including athletics, basketball, hockey, cross country, handball, rugby 15s, and swimming. Here are the key highlights of the event:

Tournament Details:

  • Dates: The championship will run from April 6, 2024, to April 14, 2024, with the Referees’ coordination Clinic kicking off on April 6 and concluding on April 8. Participating teams will arrive on April 7, with the main action set to take place from April 9 to April 13.
  • Host Venues: Machakos Boys High School will host handball, basketball, rugby 15s, and swimming for male participants, while Machakos Girls High School will accommodate female participants. Hockey matches will be held at Machakos Teachers College.
  • Sporting Disciplines: The championship will feature athletics, basketball 5 on 5, hockey, cross country, handball, rugby 15s (boys only), and swimming.

    • Pool B: Rift Valley, Coast, North Eastern, Eastern

    • Pool B: Nyanza, Central, Coast, Western
  • Handball Girls:
    • Pool A: Coast, Nairobi, Eastern, Western
    • Pool B: Nyanza, Rift Valley, Central, North Eastern
  • Handball Boys:
    • Pool A: Western, Nairobi, Central, North Eastern
    • Pool B: Nyanza, Coast, Eastern, Rift Valley
  • Hockey Girls:

Additional Information:

  • Incorporation of Girls’ Rugby 7’s: Girls will now fully participate in Rugby 7’s, which will be staged in term two alongside the boys’ championship.
  • Cross Country Categories: This year’s cross country will exclusively feature under 18s, with selections starting from the sub-county level upwards. Qualifiers will earn direct entries into the International Schools’ Sports Federation (ISF) championship.
