The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released a list of requirements for promoting teachers from Grade C1 to C2 in September 2023. The TSC is a Constitutional Commission established under Article 237 (1) of the Constitution and is responsible for overseeing the career progression of teachers in accordance with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.
Interested candidates who meet the qualifications are encouraged to submit their applications online through the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke. Manual applications will not be considered. The TSC promotes equal opportunity employment, and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates in the interviews will need to provide valid Chapter 6 documents before their appointment.
The list of requirements for promoting teachers from Grade C1 to C2 includes the following:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
- Clearance Certificate from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
There are two advertised positions for promotion, and each has specific requirements:
ADVERT NO. 61/2023 (C1-C2): SENIOR TEACHER II (REGULAR PRIMARY SCHOOL) – T-SCALE 7 -10,819 POSTS
Requirements for Appointment:
- Have served as Primary Teacher I T-Scale 6 for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- Have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
- Meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.
- Candidates in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Hard-to-Staff counties who have served in the current grade for at least 2 years are eligible.
ADVERT NO. 62/2023 (C1-C2): SENIOR TEACHER II (SNE PRIMARY SCHOOL) – T-SCALE 7 -700 POSTS
Requirements for Appointment:
- Have served as Primary Teacher I T-Scale 6 for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- Have at least a Diploma in Special Needs Education (in the area of specialty indicated).
- Have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
- Meet any other requirement the Commission may deem necessary.
