TSC Requirements for Deployment of P1 Teachers to JSS in May 2024

Requirements for Deployment:

i) Active TSC Registration:

  • Applicants must possess an active registration as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.

ii) Employment with TSC:

  • Candidates should currently be employed as primary school teachers under the Teachers Service Commission.

iii) Good Standing:

  • Applicants must not be under interdiction or facing any disciplinary process at the time of application.

iv) Academic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Education with a minimum grade of C+ at KCSE (or equivalent).
  • C+ grade in two teaching subjects offered in the school curriculum (8-4-4 or CBC) or two principles and one subsidiary pass at “A” Level.
  • At least 8 units in each of the two teaching subjects.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a minimum of C (plain) at KCSE (or its equivalent) and have pursued a Diploma in Education alongside a Bachelor’s Degree in Education are eligible.

v) Bachelor of Education Degree:

  • The degree certificate must be in Bachelor of Education; holders of Bachelor of Education (Primary Option) are not eligible for deployment.

Documents Required for Verification:

During the verification exercise, candidates are expected to present the following documents:

i) Degree/Diploma Certificate:

  • Original and copy of the degree/diploma certificate.

ii) Academic Transcripts:

  • Original and copies of academic transcripts.

iii) SNE Qualification (if applicable):

  • Original and copy of SNE qualification, where applicable.

iv) KCSE Certificate:

  • Original and copy of the KCSE certificate or its equivalent.

v) Payslip:

  • A copy of the current payslip.

vi) Declaration by Head of Institution:

  • A declaration by the Head of Institution confirming the teacher’s current service status and absence of any disciplinary proceedings.
