The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has outlined the subjects for the Grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) 2025. The assessment covers several subjects, each testing different competencies as per the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

  1. English (901) – Two Papers (Paper 1 and 2)
  2. Kiswahili (902) – Two Papers (Paper 1 and 2)
  3. Mathematics (903) – One Paper
  4. Kenya Sign Language (904) – Two Papers
  5. Integrated Science (905) – Two Papers (Theory and Practical)
  6. Agriculture and Nutrition (906) – Two Papers (Theory and Project)
  7. Social Studies and Life Skills (907) – One Paper
  8. Christian Religious Education (CRE) (908) – One Paper
  9. Islamic Religious Education (IRE) (909) – One Paper
  10. Creative Arts and Sports (910) – Two Papers (Theory and Practical)
  11. Pre-Technical Studies (911) – Two Papers (Theory and Project)

1. Kiswahili

  • Paper 1 – Multiple-choice questions (Lugha)
  • Paper 2:
    • Section 1 – Insha
    • Section 2 – Fasihi Simulizi
    • Section 3 – Novela
    • Section 4 – Tamthilia
    • Section 5 – Ushairi
    • Total Marks: 50

2. Agriculture and Nutrition (906)

  • Paper 1 (906/1):
    • Section A – Multiple-choice questions (30 marks)
    • Section B – Structured questions (40 marks)
    • Practical Assessment: 3 tasks

3. Integrated Science (905)

  • Section A – Multiple-choice questions (30 marks)
  • Section B – Structured questions (40 marks)

4. English (901)

  • Paper 1 (901/1) – Multiple-choice questions (50 marks)
  • Paper 2 (901/2):
    • Imaginative composition – 15 marks

5. Mathematics (903)

  • Multiple-Choice Questions:

    • Q20: Data Handling and Probability
  • Structured Questions:

Note:

  • No single question should exceed 5 marks.
  • Structured questions should account for 80% of total marks.
